It’s an agreed-upon notion that addictions typically involve several key aspects. One is that the activity at hand is pleasurable for the individual who engages in it, at least initially. As time goes on, even addicts don’t really find all that much pleasure in doing what they’re addicted to—it’s just that it’s become habit. And habits are hard to break. The activity must be easily repeatable. For example, it’s hard to get addicted to flying to the moon, simply because that’s not something easily repeated.

Gambling online can become an addictive pastime. That’s because sports betting sites are fun for a person with a wagering mentality, and it’s something that’s easily repeatable. So much so, that it’s possible to be managing several wagers simultaneously, handling them all from one web-enabled computer. When it gets to that point, the afflicted person is clearly addicted. But avoiding a gambling addiction doesn’t have to be extremely challenging. If you’re worried that your recreational habit is turning into an addiction that’s spiraling out of control, there is action to be taken.

Realize that many other things in life bring you the sensation of “fun.” Go engage in those other activities frequently, so you haven’t got just one source of pleasure in the world. Set limits on how much time you’re allowed to spend in front of your computer. Since sports betting sites operate best on high speed computers with accelerated graphics cards, be sure to limit the repeatability aspect of your burgeoning habit. Set a rule to only gamble once a week. Setting firm guidelines should help to keep a hobby from turning into an addiction.

How to Make Your Computer Battery Last Longer

When you check out the prices for replacing your computer battery, you might be tempted to just get another computer instead. The prices seem astronomical for what you are getting. The good news is that with a bit of proactive battery management, you can extend the life of your battery so you can go a long time without needing to replace it.

Laptop batteries require a bit of care if you want them to last. But it’s not hard. Most of your proactive steps are practical. When your laptop is plugged into a wall and your battery is fully charged, take the battery out. This will prevent it from overcharging and from overheating. If you are on battery power without any electric input, let the battery completely run down, even if you move back to an area with electricity. This reduces the amount of recharges for your battery.

Another method you might want to consider when using laptop batteries is to switch your computer from standby mode to the hibernate mode. This is a minor inconvenience when you come back to use your laptop since it will take a few more seconds to show the screen, but it benefits you in the long run when you don’t have to constantly run out spending hard-earned money and time to replace a battery that died before its time.

Keeping your computer cool is another trick for extending your battery life. When the battery gets hot, it has to work harder. Keep the computer cool with fans and by placing it on tables and desks rather than couches and beds.

Google TV: Is It for You?

Internet TV is one of the next up and coming technologies. Google, one of the front runners, is working on marketing this idea and mainstreaming it. The concept of internet based TV is still relatively new, and not without its problems and concerns, but as with any new technology, there are always bumps in the road.

Google TV combines the all the things you do on the internet with all of the things you do on the television. You can download apps, surf the internet, search for TV programs, and even watch tv and be on the internet simultaneously. Google TV also allows you to use your phone as the remote.

While the idea of moving the internet to your TV seems like the next natural step, there have been some problems. The major TV networks are not allowing Google to have access to their shows. At this time, users can not watch full-length programs from NBC, CBS, or ABC. This is not to say that there is no TV on Google TV. There are some cable networks who are allowing content both new and old.

There are other applications that are fun for internet TV though, such as seeing YouTube videos on the big screen, and seeing your own pictures and videos. Many experts have the feeling that the mainstream networks are going to have to jump on the internet TV bandwagon. It is most likely the future of TV so they are gong to have to learn ways to make it work to their advantage.

The concept is new and it has a long way to go before everyone is on board, but someone needs to start somewhere. With time, internet TV will probably be in every home just like most every home has a personal computer or a laptop. With each release, and each company that jumps in, the technology will just keep getting better.

  • Web Site ID. If you want to make a purchase from a site that you are not familiar with, and are wondering if it is legitimate, you can have Firefox give it an overview. You can check on websites you think might be suspicious and find out if a website is what is it claiming to be.
  • Forget This Site. This is a feature that will allow you to remove any trace of a website from your computer. If you clicked on something and then wished you hadn’t, have make it seem like it never happened.
  • Parental Controls. Set the parental controls that you want.
  • Detect Plug-ins that are outdated. Plug-ins can be added to your computer when you need to view a video or play a game. If a plug-in has become outdated, it can be the cause of a security risk. How to Create Bookmarks in Google Chrome

Creating and using bookmarks is a way to make finding the websites you like and want to use frequently easy to find. Once you have set them up, you can easily navigate to them with just a click of the mouse. There are a few ways you can go about creating a bookmark.

First you can just click on the star icon in the address bar when you are on a page that you want to bookmark. The bookmark for that page is then added to the bookmarks bar right in your browser. When you want to open the page all you need to do is click the bookmark and you will be brought right to the page you set.

You can also customize your bookmark settings. To do this you need to uses the dialog box that opens when you click on the star icon to set a bookmark. You can name the page you are bookmarking so you recognize why you wanted to save it. You can also change the location of where the bookmark is placed. If you don’t change the location, it will automatically be placed in a folder with your most recently bookmarked pages. Keep in mind that a bookmark can only be in one folder at a time.

You can remove bookmarks as well. If you created one by accident, or if you no longer want easy access to the page, you can just click on Remove and the bookmark will be deleted.

You can also click on Edit if you want to change the URL of the page you bookmarked. Once you have completed your change, just click on Close and the bookmark will be added to your folder.

Chrome also has a tool called Google Chrome SEO Extension. This tool can help website owners with an analysis of the competition, researching keywords, and gives them a way to check on the page rankings.

Although it took them a little while to get in the game, Google Chrome has quickly become one of the most used broswers on the internet.
