Pros of Google Chrome

Internet browsers have many benefits, and Google Chrome has been proven one of the most reliable browsers for frequent users.  Also impressive for those new to the internet, Chrome is beginner-friendly and contains some amazing features.

 

Of course, the reason that so many people are excited about Google Chrome is its amazing speed.  Basically, it rivals Safari and is noticeably faster at loading images.  Not only that, but running multiple applications improves dramatically with this browser.

Error codes can be abundant in some browsers.  Everyone knows that.  However, Google Chrome seems to handle these quickly and efficiently, and by refreshing the page, most errors can be taken care of.  In addition to this, Google Chrome has an “incognito” mode that does not leave your activity in the history bar.  Cookies are not linked to your activity either, so this is excellent for use in public computers or in places that do not welcome spam and pop-ups.

 

Chrome is easy to learn.  It requires no additional knowledge other than any other basic browser, but the perks seem endless.  The way it bookmarks favorite pages and frequently visited sites is much clearer than other browsers.  Pages appear with thumbnail pictures, and these allow users to easily see where they have been and what their first internet priorities might be.

 

On the side, Google Chrome also offers a task manager option, where users can see memory options as well as other stats on their browsing history.  Networking resources can also be viewed and people can see which processes are actively running at the time.  Overall, Chrome is a clean, simple browsing version that anyone can use.

Is Internet Explorer Up To Speed?

Although Internet Explorer is an extremely popular choice for browsing online, many people do not realize the disadvantages it carries as well.  Its speed, tabbed browsing options, and spyware can be undesirable traits for many users.

 

Although Internet Explorer may be decently quick, its rivals such as Firefox and Google Chrome are much faster.  Downloading items at only half the speed, Explorer has fallen behind when it comes to the race.  Most people are surprised to find that there is a noticeable difference between these browsers.

 

Tabbed browsing is available with Internet Explorer; however, more options are available on other browsers.  There are actually limitations on what users can do with their tabbed items.  A small handful of choices are sufficient, but if more options are desired, the other browsers may be the way to go.  Also, some people argue that since Explorers tabs are already on the screen, this cuts in on screen space altogether.  Pictures and available information may be left off the screen unless users move the cursors at the bottom of the page.

 

The search bar in the top, right-hand corner of the screen is usually not used in Explorer.  Again, some declare this another waste of screen space.  Most users go through Google for all of their searching, so the small Live Search bar is rendered useless.

 

Spyware runs rampant on Internet Explorer.  Cookies for following user’s activities are often left behind, and personal information can be gathered.  Arguably, Explorer is susceptible to more viruses and spyware due to its age as well as unused pop-up blockers.  The ability to turn them off makes computers vulnerable.

Plenty of Browser Options

While it may be nice to pull a computer out of the box and get right to the matter at hand using all the pre-installed programs, it is wise to know just which of these programs you want to use and when you might want to consider other options.

One example of this is the Internet browser. Nearly all computers come with Internet Explorer installed on them, and since it is a necessary program in order to be able to get Microsoft updates, it is nice that it is present. However, it does not have to be your default browser.

There are many other options available. Mozilla’s Firefox is one that is rather popular, in part because it has numerous add-ons to personalize your browsing experience. Firefox 4 is available to download at www.mozilla.com. You can also browse their add-ons there and choose from about 5,000 different ones.

A relative newcomer to the scene is Google Chrome. A free download for this web browser is  at www.google.com/chrome. This browser was designed for efficiency and has been kept simple and easy to use. They have a number of included features as well as many add-ons.

A lesser-known browser is Opera.  The newest version, 11.1 is very fast and has an amazing number of built-in features.  One feature is especially worth mentioning – you can browse in private. Check it out at www.opera.com/browser.

 

 

 

 

There are actually more than a dozen different browsers available. Take some time to research the strengths and weaknesses of each one to find what makes sense for you.

The New Features of Internet Explorer 9

Internet Explorer is doing all it can to keep up with the other browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox who are quickly gaining market share. As one of the original browsers, Internet Explorer has been around for a long time, but the newer ones seem to be coming out with bigger and better products.

The release of Internet Explorer 9 is the latest and greatest though. There are some new features that are bringing it a step closer to its competition. These include a new interface, better performance, and it is integrated with Windows 7.

To start, the new interface has a very streamlined look. There is no longer all the toolbars that take up half the page. All the navigation buttons that will be used the most are all on one line. You can choose the size of the address box if you don’t want it to go all the way across the page.

The performance of Internet Explorer is also greatly improved. It even has games you can play to test the performance. Just click on the Test Drive page and it will bring you to mini games and some videos.

Microsoft has made it easier to jump to certain pages of websites that you navigate to often with this new realease. For example you can drag the URL for Facebook or Pandora to your taskbar. This will keep a shortcut there with a list that will allow you to jump to certain pages within the website. When you open it up, it will open in a new window.

There is also a new window you can use to keep track of your downloads. Firefox users who like this feature will appreciate this tweak. Another new feature is the ability to click and drag a tab into a new window. It will allow yo to do this without restarting anything you may be in the middle of such as a video.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the latest and greatest in web browsing. It has not only added another layer of competition to the industry, but it has also pushed established web browsers like Firefox to step it up a little.

Chrome has several features that are an advantage to its users. It is very efficient, and moves very quickly. Since there is not a local program that needs to load up, Chrome will be up within seconds of the click of the mouse. It is designed to be light weight and not take up a lot of memory since all activities will be done online. All the data from users will not be saved on the computer, but on servers so it will not use up memory.

Although Google Chrome is good and growing into one of the most use browsers by web surfers, it does have some shortcomings. While one of the advantages of Google Chrome is that it is all web based, this could also be one of its initial downfalls. Users will need to have access at any time to the internet in order to take advantage of Chrome. It will also require users to have an extremely reliable internet provider with high speed access. Without this they will not be able to run some of the applications or to perform more than one task at a time. This is in contrast to traditional browsers that allow both online and offline functionality at the same time.

At this time it is still unknown whether or not the new Google Chrome will match traditional applications. Those who are technically savvy will undoubtedly be able to take full advantage of it, but it may be a little slow going for those who are just run of the mill internet users. The area where Chrome may shine is on netbooks and on laptops since they are designed to run on web based applications.

How to Choose the Browser that is Right for You

We are seeing information about the release of several new and updated versions of internet browsers. Internet Explorer is coming out with IE9, there is a new Google Chrome, and Firefox is working on Firefox 4. So if they all do basically the same thing; opening websites, allow you to check email, access to social networking, and all other basic internet functions, does it really matter which one you use?

The answer to that really depends on who you are and what type of internet user you are. If you think about how much time you spend on the internet it could really make a difference. For example, if you spend at least 4 hours a day browsing on the internet, if you choose a browser that is faster, you could save almost 30 minutes a day with a quicker browser.

It is important to keep in mind what you will be using the browser for before you make a choice. There are some applications that work better on some than others. For example, if you use Gmail or other Google based applications, your experience will probably be better if you use Chrome. If you like to personalize your browser, Firefox has many add ons that will let you do this.

Security is also a big issue. Each browser has a different way of providing security measures. There are some with filters for malware and phishing sites built right in. It is always a good idea to check out how the security features work before making a choice. If you do a lot of online transactions this is extremely important, so you should make sure you are protected.

It may take some trial and error before you find the browser that works best for you. The good news is that they are all free so you can try them out without much of a risk.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of IE9

Microsoft recently released their latest version of Internet Explorer. IE9 has some good new qualities along with some shortcomings. There have been some reports on what is good about this new version and some articles about where it is lacking, but here is a quick look at both the advantages and the disadvantages all in one place.

Advantages

One of the biggest advantages to the new version of Internet Explorer is it is easy to use. The redesigned interface is much more user friendly. Users now see more content as opposed to status bars and the toolbars that are normally taking up the page.  They have also increased the speed in the most recent release, which was necessary to keep up with Google Chrome and with Firefox. You will also see a warning if you install an add on that will slow down your browser. This is a good feature which may change some minds about what they are adding. Another advantage to the new Internet Explorer is the ability to add websites that you go to frequently right to the task bar for easy access. One of the bigger advantages to IE9 is that it will support HTML5.  This is important because HTML5 the the future of interactive viewing. It will allow vidoes to be played without having to use plug-ins.

Disadvantages

There seem to be more advantages than disadvantages with the new Internet Explorer. The new look may take some getting used to and users will have to relearn how to navigate around. Other browsers also play HD videos with a better quality.

The overall impression of IE9 is that it is much better than previous versions and has come a long way. It has some tough competition though, so we will have to wait and see how it really compares.

A Few Good Reasons To Use Google Chrome

The internet browsers have been battling it out for years. With every new release each browser says they have the newest and best technology. Since a browser is used for many more things than just browsing the web, there are quite a few things to take into consideration as you decide which one works for you.

Here are some good reasons why many people are turning to Google Chrome as their main source of web browsing.

  1. It is faster than all the others. It is faster in terms of loading up pages, opening the browser initially, and when you are opening and closing tabs. Some may try to dispute this, but with the newest version there is really no reason to try any more.
  2. Tabbed browsing that shows more of every web page. Chrome does not waste valuable screen space with unnecessary items. It makes full use of all the room you have so you can see more of everything you open.
  3. Compatibility with other Google Products. For those of us who use several other Google products such as gmail, Google docs, the calendar, and even the Google Reader, the whole experience is just much better with Google Chrome.
  4. Bookmark Sync. This type of feature is not just offered by Google, but their version works very well. You can easily save your preferences, bookmarks, and other settings to your Google account so when you open up your browsers on another computer it will look the same.
  5. Google Chrome Web Store. Although there are some critics of the web store, but it is a great place to find extensions, games, and apps that may come in handy as you use Chrome. Again, this is not something that just Google offers, Firefox has a similar set up with their add on’s. but this store has some great stuff for your browsing.

How to Create Bookmarks in Google Chrome

Creating and using bookmarks is a way to make finding the websites you like and want to use frequently easy to find. Once you have set them up, you can easily navigate to them with just a click of the mouse. There are a few ways you can go about creating a bookmark.

First you can just click on the star icon in the address bar when you are on a page that you want to bookmark. The bookmark for that page is then added to the bookmarks bar right in your browser. When you want to open the page all you need to do is click the bookmark and you will be brought right to the page you set.

You can also customize your bookmark settings. To do this you need to uses the dialog box that opens when you click on the star icon to set a bookmark. You can name the page you are bookmarking so you recognize why you wanted to save it. You can also change the location of where the bookmark is placed. If you don’t change the location, it will automatically be placed in a folder with your most recently bookmarked pages. Keep in mind that a bookmark can only be in one folder at a time.

You can remove bookmarks as well. If you created one by accident, or if you no longer want easy access to the page, you can just click on Remove and the bookmark will be deleted.

You can also click on Edit if you want to change the URL of the page you bookmarked. Once you have completed your change, just click on Close and the bookmark will be added to your folder.

Google Chrome and SEO

The release of Google Chrome a few years ago caused many people to wonder why they felt the need to come up with a new browser. Once they started using it though, they realized it had many benefits. Among the many benefits of Chrome is the specialized Javascript engine of its own and beefed up security. This browser also plans to have a large effect on Search Engine Optimization.

One of the features of Chrome is that if a website uses the right key words that rank well among users it will suggest that users go to it. This feature, called Google Suggest will base its suggestions on sites that have been visited in the past, and other websites that are popular among users.

Along with the release of the web browser Google has also released several tools to assist those who are concerned with SEO. There are several extentions that will provide information about how a website is doing. With the click of a button you can see how your website ranks on social media sights, and other search engines. The benefit of many of these tools is that they are instant. You don’t have to wait for reports, the information is only a click away.

Chrome also has a tool called Google Chrome SEO Extension. This tool can help website owners with an analysis of the competition, researching keywords, and gives them a way to check on the page rankings.

Although it took them a little while to get in the game, Google Chrome has quickly become one of the most used broswers on the internet.
